The poem struck me immediately because it’s about one of my favourite tanks in the game, and I’ve also written a short poem about it, but also because it made me feel I’d done the right thing in holding the contest, and I was a little surprised that someone had chosen poetry, which category I had added at the last minute, almost as an afterthought, as their mode of expression: This is from nko333 playing on EU, and it was the first entry that was sent in. I’d like to start with a short untitled poem. I hope this showcase of words and pictures, all different expressions of the overall theme of happiness and enjoyment, will do the same for you. The result has been nothing short of amazing, and every time I’ve gotten a message with a contest entry it has lifted my spirits. Holding a contest like this is one possibility, and I wanted it to be a celebration of creativity rather than a measure of skill. Easy because all you have to do is take it seriously, but once you’ve taken that first step, it’s harder to know how to proceed. The simple act of using words that rhyme to tell a story, the juxtaposition of thought and feeling framed inside an essay, and perhaps most daunting of all putting pen or brush to a blank page to make a picture out of ideas.īeing a curator of tank poetry and art is both easy and difficult.

Looking inside yourself and trying to express what you feel through an artistic medium is a daunting task, and the result represents a triumph in and of itself. Remember the way the prizes were distributed, any one of these poets, writers, and artists could have joined the winner’s circle.Īs far as I am concerned, though, they are all winners. As promised, everyone who made the final cut in the contest will have their work presented here, for all your enjoyment and edification.
